IS THE DOMAIN NAME PART OF MY WEBSITE AND ARE THEY HELD TOGETHER?
The domain name used for your site is actually a licence to use that name for a specified period, typically one or two years and then it has to be renewed. It is purchased from a UK company and is held on a UK server. The domain cost is included in the price of whichever plan you choose and in the annual renewal for hosting as part of the on-going hosting service each year unless otherwise agreed.
CAN A WEBSITE BE MOVED TO ANOTHER PROVIDER?
The website can be exported to another web-design company if in the future there's a requirement to transfer it for someone else to administer it and once any outstanding payment has been settled. Blogs and some other features which rely on the original hosting system cannot be guaranteed however.
WHAT SAFETY MEASURES AND SYSTEM BACK-UP IS THERE?
01 - The company we use for our domain names is UK-based, the domains are on their servers and they offer 24/7 technical support.
02 - The website platform is held online, the service includes maintaining backups which can be restored in the unlikely event of a catastrophic failure.
03 - It's the general policy to additionally keep a back-up of all client content submitted for inclusion in a website project so that in the event of the worst case scenario it could be reconstructed from the original content.

WHAT IF EXTRA WORK NEEDS TO BE DONE, MORE than THE PROJECT PACKAGE PRICE?
We like to be flexible and accommodating on the tacit understanding that your success is our success. The package prices are however, calculated on an average rate for an amount of hours which are typical for the 'weight' (complexity) of the project.
Other services such as video production, photography, promotion on social media is usually budgeted extra to the package price and can be costed on either an hourly or daily rate. Please discuss if you would like other services to be quoted for and included in the package price.

CAN A WEBSITE BE BUILT REMOTELY, I DON'T LIVE IN KENT NOR THE UK?
Most work is done remotely, even before the pandemic, using various resources including video chat/meetings.
What's most important is to gain a strong understanding about the project and a rapport from which we can discover the best way of communicating to enable us to work effectively together.

01 - We incorporate Search Engine Optimisation and use our best endeavours in making your website publicly 'known'. This SEO work is based on the information provided by the client. If comprehensive information is not provided the potential of your project will not be maximised. So it is important to engage fully in this process, especially prior to launch.
02 - It's a great idea to invite friends and family, colleagues and associates to view, also to include the web address on all correspondence, email signatures, leaflets, literature and any promotional material including letter-headed notepaper. In the early days, the more hits, the better the search engines will begin to identify your new project and therefore accelerate it in the rankings.

CAN I RELAUNCH WITH A NEW LOOK, FOR EXAMPLE IN A COUPLE OF YEARS' TIME?
Most websites need a refresh from time to time to remain attractive, relevant and purposeful to the targeted audience and to retain a contemporary look. We will set an Annual Review date where the on going project can be assessed however, a relaunch can happen at any time.
There may be some extra cost for a relaunch but that would be much less than an entire rebuild as we will have already done most of the big stuff, the compiling of the main content and the creative construction. It's best to talk nearer the time to discuss ideas and potential cost.

CAN I EDIT MY OWN SITE?
The short answer is "yes." Generally however, it is best to forward all changes for inclusion and that is part of the service and ongoing support. This is largely because it's easier to track amendments and changes, also to maintain 'clean' settings and functionality which can otherwise unintentionally be disturbed, disrupted or unintentionally deleted. Of course, if you have some experience of editing, then please discuss your requirements with us.

We can take Performance Reports which can range from once a year to every 90 days or other agreed period which look at the referring sources to your website, the active top pages, search terms used, and we can analyse the data in many ways using Google Search Console, Google Analytics, and other methods.
